Just as we said goodbye to the 'Beast from the East', an ex Russian spy gets poisoned by a rare nerve agent. Coincidence? Yes. But it’s no coincidence that we're bringing you our favourite singles that we've been jamming out to over the last few days.

Brooklyn Jones, ‘Beautiful Escape’ by Tom Misch and Zak Abel
If you’re anything like me, your instagram will have been flooded with videos of Tom Misch’s performance last night at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm. Weirdly enough, the Roundhouse is where I first discovered Zak Abel, when he supported Kwabs back in 2015. In honour of this, and my insane jealousy of everyone who got to see that gig last night, I’ve chosen this track. The combination of the beat, guitar riffs, and Abel’s voice, make this a perfect tune. I’ve found it almost exactly the perfect tempo for when I’m running late to class and need to walk just a little bit faster.
Freddie Metherell, ‘Egyptian Luvr’ by Rejjie Snow feat. Amine and Dana Williams
This tune dropped a few weeks back and although I’m a little slow off the mark, I’m now completely obsessed with it. Irish rapper Rejjie Snow made waves when he topped the iTunes hip hop charts dethroning Kanye West in 2013. After a brief hiatus, he’s back with a debut album, Dear Annie. Although it covers a mishmash of moods, there is a lot to be impressed by. ‘Egyptian Luvr’, my favourite from the album, sounds like it could be a chart climber. It’s a laid back foot tapper. Anything that Canadian producer, Kaytranada, touches is flawlessly groovy. Simplistic and funky, he really knows how to carve out a fine bass line.
